It also seems to be more minor, sometimes purely tokenistic. (I say “seems” because I’m relying on anecdotes by mothers who had it done to their daughters, and that may not be exhaustive or accurate.) There seems a tendency for people to compare the worst-case scenario of FGC with the best-case of MGC.

But sensitivity aside, FGM, especially type 2 and 3, still does way more damage. And the fact that it’s usually performed in unsterilized conditions and by untrained people makes it worse. I agree that male circumcision should be stopped, but I still hold that FGM is a much larger problem.
